Self-Assessment Tool

 

The following tool is designed to help you address your strengths and weaknesses, considering the most significant variables in a competitive application. It is important that you reflect on these variables honestly to accurately and holistically assess your developing profile as a prospective applicant.

Those variables include:

  • Undergraduate GPA, specifically in science courses

  • Community service/volunteer experiences

  • Leadership experiences

  • Research experiences

  • Involvement in health-field experiences

Calculate your GPA using our GPA calculator before beginning the assessment. Then, select responses to each of the five questions and click the "Calculate Your Score" button below to determine your score. You can reference our scoring rubric below to analyze your score and how it can be improved.

Score Explanation of Candidacy
10-20 points You are on track to be a competitive applicant for professional school. You are clearly committed to this career path and your experiences. Keep up the good work.
21-30 points You are making progress but perhaps need to expand your horizons. Commitment is important. Continue to be deeply involved in your experiences and/or get involved in new activities to enhance your application.
