The WVU Pre-Health Office offers seminars and workshops regularly throughout both the Fall and Spring semesters to help students understand how to become a competitive applicant. At these seminars, learn tips on how to prepare to become a competitive applicant, how to apply to professional school, and build your action plan.

Learn about what health professional schools look for in an applicant and create your action plan to become a competitive applicant. This seminar is useful for any student interested in a health profession career but is particularly useful for those early in their undergraduate career

Planning to Apply

Offered in the Fall Semester

Learn what to expect and how to prepare for the application process for health professional schools (e.g. Medical, Dental, PA, PT, etc.). We recommend attending/viewing the “Competitive Applicant Seminar” prior to attending – also available on our website.

Resume Building 

Offered in both Fall and Spring Semesters 

Learn how to create an effective resume or improve the one you already have. This seminar teaches students how to prepare a professional resume to use for graduate school applications, letter of recommendation requests, work or research positions, and more.

Application Prep Program Info Session

Offered in the Spring Semester

This information session is for students who plan to apply to graduate health professional programs this upcoming application cycle (e.g., MD/DO, DDS, PA, PT, OT, Vet, PharmD, etc). The Program focuses on self-assessment of preparedness, application material feedback, interviewing practice, and an optional Letter Packet.

WOrkshops

Personal Statement Writing Workshop 

Offered in the Spring Semester 

Learn how to develop a well-written personal statement for health professional schools (e.g. Medical, Dental, PA, PT, Nursing, etc.). We will also cover the difference between a personal statement, statement of purpose, and a diversity statement. This workshop is recommended for students who are beginning their application to health professional programs in 2022.

Offered in the Spring Semester

Interviewing Workshop 

Offered in both Fall and  Spring Semester 

Attend this workshop to learn the basics of interviewing for graduate-level health professional school (e.g. medical, dental, PA, PT, OT, etc.) and practice your interviewing skills. Space is limited to Pre-Health students who have completed at least one year of undergraduate. It is best if you have attended or viewed the Competitive Applicant Seminar in the past
